Banoffe Bread in our AGA
A quick and easy Banana Bread recipe by the Marketing Girlie.
When I accepted this job as Marketing Manager, I knew I wanted to diversify the content on socials. However, I didn't anticipate that I would end up being the private chef for Callaghan's Electrical, but here we are. I'm not even mad about it.
I used the AGA eR7 in-store to make this recipe. Having never used an AGA before, I just figured it was a regular oven. I was gobsmacked at the price tag and wondered how on earth an oven could cost more than my car. But after baking in it, I now know what all the fuss was over.
The AGA truly lives up to the dream that the salesperson tries to sell you. It locks in every ounce of flavour and moisture, bringing your cooking to a whole new level.
So here is a very simple recipe, and an extremely tasty treat. This is coming from a girl with very limited baking experience, so if I can do it so can you.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 (about 260g) Overripe bananas
- 1 Can of Carnation Caramel
- 75g Buttery spread or butter, melted
- 1 Egg
- 1tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 300g Plain flour
- 1tsp Baking powder
- 1tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- Some chocolate for topping (optional)
- 900g (2lb) loaf tin
Method:
- Preheat your AGA to B4, or 180 degrees, 160 degrees for fan ovens.
- Slice bananas into a bowl and smash
- Add your wet ingredients and combine
- Add your dry ingredients and combine
- Pour into your lined loaf tin
- Top with some chocolate chips
- Bake for 50-60 mins. If the top looks too brown before the middle is cooked, then cover with some baking paper.
Crucial next step:
Once cooled, cut some thick slices, lather on some real Irish butter, make yourself a cup of tea.
Put the feet up and relax. That's enough cooking for the day - get someone else to make you dinner :)
